The August Bank Holiday weekend saw the 33rd Annual Red Row Vintage Club Rally return to the stunning Druridge Bay Country Park – and what a weekend it was. Sunshine, seaside air, and the unmistakable sights and sounds of vintage engines made for a brilliant celebration of heritage, community, and craftsmanship.
A Day Full of Vintage Charm
The park was filled with an incredible line-up of exhibits:
- Mighty steam engines, both full-sized and miniature, chugging proudly.
- Rows of gleaming classic and vintage cars, alongside motorbikes, tractors, and military vehicles.
- New for this year – a showcase of custom and modified vehicles, which added a fresh twist to the nostalgia.
Beyond the Engines
It wasn’t just about the vehicles. Visitors enjoyed:
- Craft and hobby stalls, perfect for browsing and picking up something unique.
- Food traders and local favourites serving everything from classic fairground treats to hearty meals.
- Live music that lifted the atmosphere – the sound of brass and jazz drifting across the park.
Community at Its Heart
As always, the Rally wasn’t just about entertainment. It was also a chance to support good causes, with donations going toward charities including the Great North Air Ambulance, Northumbria Blood Bikes, Rotary International, and Blyth Battery. The generosity of visitors helped keep that community spirit at the centre of the event.
A Weekend to Remember
Walking through the showground, it was impossible not to be swept up in the nostalgia – the polished chrome, the steam whistles, and the sheer passion of the owners who lovingly maintain these pieces of history. Families picnicked by the lake, children gazed up wide-eyed at the engines, and enthusiasts swapped stories beside their pride and joy.
This year’s Rally was a fantastic reminder of why it has become such a well-loved fixture in the Northumberland events calendar. Judging by the smiles, the turnout, and the sheer variety of vehicles on display, the Red Row Vintage Club Rally once again proved itself as a highlight of the summer.
